Elkton

Elkton is a small rural community in St. Johns County, about 15 minutes west of St. Augustine. It's one of the agricultural hearts of Northeast Florida — cabbage, potatoes, and other row crops are still grown across thousands of acres in and around Elkton, much of it by families who've been farming the same fields for four or five generations.

For visitors, Elkton mostly shows up as a stretch of highway between Palatka and St. Augustine. But the town is also home to St. Johns Golf Club, one of the more well-regarded public courses in the area, and a handful of services that anchor the rural community. If you're staying in St. Augustine and looking for a quieter golf round than the resort courses on A1A, Elkton is the move.
