Georgetown

Georgetown is a tiny St. Johns River community on the west shore of Little Lake George, a few miles south of Welaka. A scattering of houses, a few fish camps, and a marina sit along the river road — and that's basically it. The town's claim to fame is being one end of the Fort Gates Ferry route across the St. Johns River.

What Georgetown gives you is access to some of the best bass water in the state. Crescent Fish Camp, one of the legacy fishing operations along this stretch, has been operating out of Georgetown for decades and offers guided trips on Little Lake George and into the upper St. Johns. Reel Florida Guide Service is also based out of here. If you've come for the fishing, Georgetown is where you'll wake up early, eat a fast breakfast, and meet your guide at the dock before sunrise.
